The seventeenth edition of the Medcap Forum, the benchmark event that brings together small and medium-sized companies with investors from all over the world, kicks off tomorrow. For three days, from 25 to 27 May, more than 230 investors,  of which close to 50% are international, and 100 companies will meet at the event, which will be held remotely due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Besides this, there are more than 1,500 meeting requests between companies and investors.

As usual, an extensive programme of panels and conferences will be held in parallel to these private meetings, addressing major ongoing issues for the economy and financial markets. Javier Hernani, CEO of BME, will welcome the audience to the event, accompanied by Fernando Ruiz, Chairman of Deloitte. Gonzalo García Andrés, Secretary of State for the Economy, will be the special guest during the opening. The CEO of BME will also moderate the first panel of the Medcap 2021 Forum, entitled "New environment, new challenges for Spanish companies". This will be followed by a panel on competitiveness and productivity in the new business scenario.

During the third session of the Forum, on Thursday 27 May at 9 am, Jos Dijsselhof, CEO of SIX and Chairman of BME, will reflect on market access for small and medium-sized enterprises in the context of the Covid-19. Directly afterwards, José Carlos García de Quevedo, Chairman of ICO, will speak about the importance of public-private collaboration to boost alternative financing and business growth. On the same day, at 10:15 am, there will be a panel discussion on the role of the stock market as an efficient growth tool for companies.

Over the three days of the Forum, the situation and future prospects of important sectors of the Spanish economy, such as renewable energy, REITs, health and biotechnology, will be analysed.

Investment will have a place of its own, with the traditional equity managers’ panel that specialises in small and medium-sized companies, which will take place on Wednesday 26th at 5pm, and the panel "ESG: A Fad or long-term trend?", which will take place on Thursday 27th at 4pm.
